UI/UX Design & Development

Growing up in the age of the internet, I’ve had the privilege of not only witnessing the evolution of the web but understanding its intricacies. By blending both design-oriented and development-oriented skillsets, I seek to design and create websites that are not only visually striking but also seamlessly intuitive.

Gradshow '24

Full Website Design & Development

A website for the ANU 2024 Gradshow.

This assignment saw us design and develop a website for the up and coming ANU Gradshow. The website hosts information about the event, alongside the artworks of the graduating students. It is fully responsive and features a number of custom elements – including server-side search and filtering functionality, alongside custom lightbox and carousel components.

This design looks to incorporate the traditional ANU branding with a modern, sleek and high contrast website. The design looks to place emphasis on the works of the students, and the key information of the event – without feeling too minimal or uninspired.

My design, alongside four others were shortlisted by the School of Art & Design to act as the final website. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, a previous year’s website was reused instead.

Lighthouse Festival

Adobe XD Mockups, Branding

A website and full set of branding for a fictional festival, ‘Lighthouse’.

Another assignment, of which we were tasked with designing high fidelity wireframes within Adobe XD. Primarily, this assignment was focused around user interface / user flow, and looked to improve on existing websites of a similar nature. Here, I opted to improve the festival experience by introducing a three-part design that updated in alignment with the festival – optimizing the experience depending on whether the user was visiting before, during or after the festival.

This design utilizes a flat, minimalist style, allowing the site to emphasize the imagery and custom graphics and iconography.

ZM Reviews

Full Website Design & Development

A personal website created to host my movie reviews (now visible here).

ZM Reviews was another university assignment that effectively gave us free reign to create whatever website we’d like. This website features a number of my old film reviews and looks to use a high contrast editorial style to paint them in a more professional light.

This was another assignment that was largely focused on the field of Human Computer Interaction, and the methods of integrating this within a UI context.

In Canberra's Eyes

Digital Exhibition

In Canberra’s Eyes is a digital exhibition that outlines the role of city marketing on the cities history.

This artefact was the outcome of a large digital humanities group project. It looks to utilize historical data from Trove and the NLA to outline Canberra’s history as a ‘built city’ – highlighting how city marketing and self-presentation has affected its growth over time.

To present this, I was tasked with developing an interactive website – containing a plethora of information in an easily digestible and engaging method.

Simple Pixels

A majority of my web design and development experience has come from my work with Simple Pixels – a Wagga based web design agency.

During my time at Simple Pixels, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating on hundreds of projects – big and small from all walks of life.

Some of these projects can be seen on the left, however I implore you to head to the Simple Pixels website and find out more.

For design and development work, please enquire directly through Simple Pixels’ website.

Other Stuff

Not to mention theres a whole heap of other stuff I’ve made over recent years. Between UI mockups for games, Netflix recreations and other dummy sites – here’s some other stuff I thought turned out well!

Genetic Mutation Program

Python, MatPlotLib, NumPy

Bioprolegomena is a university assignment focused on analysing nucleotide sequences, using some additional python libraries such as NumPy and MatPlotLib.

The script takes two Nucleotide sequences as inputs and calculates/graphs a number of values. These include :

  • The edit distance of the two sequences (best possible sequence alignment utilising a penalty system)
  • The probability of one string mutating to the other.
  • The nMax (highest probability under specific conditions).
  • A line graph showing the different probability values, and highlighting the nMax.

Dynamic Identity

p5.Js Library

A logo and branding generator created with the p5 Javascript Library. The script utilities real time weather data at the HQ of the Institute for Energy to generate a dynamic set of branding.

More information can be found here.

MovieDB SQL Queries

PostgreSQL

An SQL assignment focused on returning various relations from the MovieDB database. This assignment was a smaller part of a larger relational databases course that focused on both SQL and NoSQL database design and optimisation.

Ransom Note Generator

JavaScript

A smaller part of a larger assignment focused on typographic experimentation and creation. This page stylizes a word similar to a digital ransom note, allowing the user to change and regenerate the typographic styles at their will.

Digital Mirror

p5.Js Library, CLM Tracker Library

A modern take on a ‘mirror’ – this assignment was focused on redesigning an everyday object in a creative and out of the box way.

The project makes use of a face tracker, blurring the users eyes and making a statement on the commercialisation of analogue technologies. For more information, visit the link below.
